The Finnish Waterways was founded in 1981. The goals of the Association are promotion, development and appropriate use of waterway traffic and transport in both the coast and inland waters of Finland.

MISSION
The objective of the activities of the Finnish Waterways is to promote and develop the waterway traffic and transport, as well as the prerequisites for its operations as a part of the whole transport network.
VISION
The Finnish Waterways is the most valued trustee, promoter and expert in the field of waterway traffic and transport including both cargo and passenger transport.
STRATEGIC GOALS
We promote the competitivess, environmental awareness and business conditions of waterway traffic and transport.
We contribute to improving the conditions and permeability of the Finland's waterway network and the usability of the fleet in all conditions, taking safety into account.
As an expert partner, we maintain a dialogue with decision makers and other advocacy organizations in order to promote the operating conditions of waterway traffic and transport in Finland and internationally.
We produce and disseminate information to our members and stakeholders on the best practices and operating models of waterway traffic and transport.
